The 494 visa has 9,000 places is allocated to it for the current financial year.  As a provisional visa, the 494 visa does not give instant permanent residency, but the 494 visa holder is eligible to apply for Subclass 191 Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa after 3 years.

Can employers nominate on a 494 visa?

Employers located in any area outside Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney (designated regional areas) many nominate applicants. If you have a partner involved in the 494 application, only one of you is required to mention three years of salary per year (also tax returns) at or above $53,900. The partner can be the key applicant for191 visa if they can meet the required specifications.

Kindly note- You are not required to be nominated by an employer to prepare the application for 191 visas. This is a key difference to the RSMS 187 visa.
